Uggs Sale at HauteLook!

I don't care what anyone says about Uggs being ugly. I adore them. They are some of the most comfortable footwear I've ever worn (I own three pairs of boots and a pair of slippers). Seriously, when you wear them, it feels like you're walking on clouds.

The downside is that Uggs are expensive. But don't be tempted by shearling-lined charlatans. Nothing is as comfy cozy as the real deal. Your best bet is to patiently wait 'til Uggs go on sale - and then make your move.

That's exactly what I plan to do on Monday, July 25 at 11am...because HauteLook is having an Uggs sale! I probably shouldn't tell you this because I don't want too much shopping competition. But you know I can't keep a secret from my Spoiled Pretty sisters.
So whether you're an Uggs newbie looking to make your first purchase or a seasoned vet adding to your collection, I suggest you set an alarm for this sale - because I predict the stock will go quickly.

And if you're not already a member of HauteLook, I highly suggest that you join right now (membership is free) - so you're signed up and ready to shop when the sale kicks off on Monday.

Nine West Wowza Sandals

So this weekend, I went shoe shopping at Macy's and bought these super fun Wowza sandals (also available in gold) from Nine West. They look so good on my feet that the $79 price tag didn't really faze me. But it sure stung later that day when I saw my new shoes on ninewest.com - for $32 cheaper!

Now, if it was only a $5, $10, or $15 difference, I might have just cursed my bad luck and got on with my life. But $32 is a different story. So I went back to Macy's, returned the sandals and then bought them online when I returned home. I even managed to find a free shipping coupon code, so I made out like a bandit.

Only down side is that I have to wait about a week to wear my cute new kicks.

Bare Traps Trystine Boot: Stylish Answer to the Wide Calf Conundrum

If you have wide calves like me, you know how physically and emotionally exhausting it can be to shop for tall boots. The funny thing is that my calves aren't even that fat. It's as if shoe designers are making boots for anorexic appendages...or trying to embarrass all of us thick-legged sistas so that we struggle, in vain, zipping up a cute boot while all these other heffas simply just slip them on.

Anyway, I lucked out a few weeks ago when I purchased these super cute boots at DSW.com. I first spied the Trystine Wide Calf Boots by Bare Traps at my local DSW store, but they didn't have my size in stock. So when I returned home, I logged onto dsw.com and ordered a pair.

The store's limited size offerings actually worked out in my favor because I used three coupon codes (920 for 10% off, SHIPR for free standard shipping, and 919 for 500 bonus points added to my DSW Rewards account). So the $59.99 boots ended up only costing me $53.96 - and I'm closer to my next rewards certificate.

The Trystine boot, while synthetic, look like the real thing. The heel is high enough to elongate and visually slim the leg, yet low enough that they're comfortable all day long. The boot shaft circumference is roomy enough that I can wear them over leggings and skinny jeans. I can also pair them with skirts and dresses.

And for those of you lucky enough to have average sized calves, the Trystine Boot comes in a regular width too.

Chinese Laundry Sweet Revenge Jelly Ballet Flats

I am so enamored with my Chinese Laundry Sweet Revenge jelly ballet flats. Last week, when I was tired and ready to conclude my shopping excursion to DSW, my mom spotted these rhinestoned lovelies and it was love at first sight. They come in clear and smoke (I purchased the latter)- and when I wore them yesterday, two women actually stopped me on the street and asked where I got my kicks.

If The Boot Fits: Tall Boots For Big Calves

You know the song "Poor Unfortunate Souls" from the movie The Little Mermaid (don't pretend you didn't sing every one of Ariel's songs in grade/high school)? Well, I've decided it's the theme song for the plight of thick calved girls searching for tall boots.

For months, I've had a serious case of tall boot envy every time I see a chick on the street rocking a knee high boot. I, myself, am short with extra girthy Gastrocnemius muscles. So the thickest part of my lower leg falls in the spot that is usually the thinnest part of the boot.

Since September, I've been trolling shoe stores to find my Cinderella boot that will effortlessly slip over my monstrous calves - only to be dejected and embarrassed when even the roomiest boot won't work its way past my ankle. I even contemplated buying from online retailers like widewiths.com and aylaboots.com. But I'm the kind of girl who can't purchase clothes and shoes from the web; I'm hard to fit and need to try before buying.

So I lucked out two weeks ago during a last ditch mission to Nordstrom's shoe department. I found these Steve Madden Intyce boots on sale ($129 down from $199) and they managed to slip on without the need for elbow grease.

Problem is that the only thing that would fit between my leg and the leather would be a pair of tights or leggings...certainly not a pair of pants or skinny jeans. So I took my new boots to Villa's Shoe Repair (266 S 19th Street in Philadelphia), a fab shoe repair shop a few blocks from my office. They stretched the boots and waterproofed them for less than $30. Plus, the helpful owner punched extra holes in the buckle - free of charge - to further accommodate my zaftig calves.

Thanks to Steve Madden and Villa's Shoe Repair, I can finally stop sipping the tall boot haterade.

My New Nike Sneakers!

I was in the market for new kicks, so I headed over to nikestore.com to pick up a new pair. I'm one of a kind, so instead of purchasing some pre-made sneakers, I decided to design my own - and I'm so excited by the results. Check it...they even have my name on them!

They'll arrive just in time for Christmas, so this is my gift to myself. I'm hoping that my new sneaks will encourage me to make more frequent trips to the gym.

Look What I Bought At Nordstrom: Dolce Vita Whitney Boots

Like a moth to a flame, I am inexplicably drawn to anything with an exposed zipper. So when I spotted some teenager holding the floor sample of these Whitney Boots by Dolce Vita in the Nordstrom shoe department yesterday, I was this close to snatching it out of her hand when she wasn't looking.

After a few minutes of indecision, the girl returned the sample to the display and I pounced on it so fast, I doubt the sole ever touched the table top. The Whitney boots ended up coming home with me, and I can't wait to wear them for the first time. These definitely are the kind of footwear you build entire ensembles around.

If you choose to follow in my footsteps and buy this particular style, be warned - they run small. I usually wear a size 8 boot - but with these, I needed an 8.5.
